How to Upload and Organize Files in Mega

Updated: Sep 16

This guide helps ensure files are uploaded to Mega smoothly and organized, so any team member can easily access them.

1. Accessing Mega Account

Log in:

  • Open the Mega app for desktop or go to https://mega.nz/.

  • Enter the CRM credentials (please ask Meryo or manager).

2. Preparing Files for Upload

We use Mega to store our largest files, especially photos and videos from classes, parties, trips, and more. It’s super important to label each of these files correctly to keep everything organized and easy to find.

Please label files with the following details:

  • Year

  • Program

  • Day

  • Season

  • Week

  • A short description of the video (Facing micro, Dance Partnering, Demo, Recap Video)

Examples:

  • Videos:

    "2024 Salsa 102a Mondays S3 Week 4. Recap Video"

  • Photos:

For photos taken by DK and instructors, where there are two versions (one smiling and one funny), add "Pic 1" or "Pic 2" to the final description.

    "2024 Salsa 102a Mondays S3 Week 1. Pic 1"

3. Uploading Files to Mega

  • Locate the folder in Mega where the files should be uploaded.

  • If the folder doesn’t exist, create it using an easy and comprehensive for everyone Folder Name

  • Click the "Upload" button or drag and drop files into the Mega interface.

  • Select files from your device to upload.

  • Monitor the upload progress to ensure all files are successfully uploaded.

Always double-check:

  • After the upload is complete, verify that all files are uploaded and correctly named, we don't want to miss any files :'(

  • Double-check the files by opening it to ensure they are uploaded correctly.

4. Sharing Files:

  • If files need to be shared, generate a shareable link from Mega.

  • Ensure you set appropriate permissions (view/edit) for the link.

  • Copy/paste the link

5. Playing Videos on Mega

Depending on the file format you're trying to play, Mega might not open it directly on the website. Mega's support team explains that this is because of the data encryption system they use.

  • Playing files from your web browser

Check out the video below, and ensure the "Play video" feature is available for the file you are trying to watch.

  • Playing files from MegaSync app:

Install the MegaSync app and follow the steps in the video below.
