Helping students or prospects check a class

Updated: Jun 17

Some prospects are hesitant to pay for the program because it's a big commitment and they do not know if they'd love it or will be able to catch up to the class difficulty. Danny or the sales rep typically offers the student some type of direct exposure to our class to help them get comfortable before joining. Student may observe a class, do a level check with the instructor, or try a class.

A. Observe a class

When a student is invited to observe, they go to the studio to watch the class from the sidelines. Some prospects just watch for a few minutes, and there are prospects who will observe the class for its entire duration.

Pre-requisites:

Any prospect can be invited to observe a class. No payment required.

B. Do a level check with the instructor

When a prospect claims they're intermediate or advanced dancer, we offer them to do a level check with the academy director (or another instructor if director's unavailable) to confirm this.

Pre-requisites:

Prospect with outside experience can be invited to do a level check. No payment required.

C. Trying a class

Between a observing and doing a trial class, it is better to get them to try the class so they can dance with the group and get an immersive experience. Prospects are required to register and send a $20 deposit, plus they should meet any of the conditions below.

Pre-requisites:

C.A. Prospect is eligible to try a class if program is still in its first 3 weeks. In weeks 4 through 10, we do not allow brand new dancers to dance with us because they'll be lost and will mess up the other students; or

C.B. Prospect is eligible to try a class that is past week 3 if Danny spoke with them on the phone and he was able to get an idea of their dance experience and specifically invites them to dance with him in class; or C.C. Prospect is a Classpass lead. For Classpass, student support specialist basically just need to get them to text or call the academy director before they show up to class. Danny can handle all the nuance if they're paying through Classpass. So Danny might end up telling to try a class on a different day. Student support specialist has to make sure that our ad in Classpass for intermediate or advanced programs is crystal clear that they must have sufficient experience to join this class and connect with the director first.

Some students (previously enrolled ones) sometimes still ask student support if they can check out a class first before paying for the whole program. Yes, they are allowed to try one time.

The student support specialist will refer to the steps below.
