Salsa Student

Steven took the plunge into the lively world of salsa, quickly finding a welcoming community at Movers and Shakers. He’s committed to refining his dance skills by watching class videos and actively engaging with his instructors.

Although his first social dance was a bit of a challenge, it sparked a newfound love for salsa. Steven enjoys dancing with different partners, seeing it as an opportunity to learn and grow

Steven shares his salsa dance journey through the following interview questions.

1. How did specific events or people influence your decision to start learning salsa?

Have a good friend that got me into salsa and he also recommended the MaS community.

2. What strategies do you use to remember the steps and techniques taught in class?

Re-watching the videos and asking Danny (Academy Director) for questions when they come.

3. Have you ever had a memorable dance with a stranger at a salsa event? What made it special?

My first social dance is always a tough, nervous thing, but after you do one, it's addicting.

4. Do you prefer dancing with the same partner all night or switching partners frequently? Why?

Partner switching to meet people all the time, and they can all fix your mistakes.

5. How do you feel the salsa lessons at Movers and Shakers have helped you grow as a dancer and as a person?

Makes me grow more mature.
