Rupi Garcha
Bachata Student
Rupi's interest in bachata dancing stemmed from a long-held desire to try it, and now it’s become a rewarding part of her life. When facing challenges in class, she focuses on feedback, watches the instructor closely, and practices diligently. While her apartment mirror has become her usual dance partner, bachata has been a gateway to building friendships and stepping out of her comfort zone in Los Angeles.
She praises the friendly and welcoming community, describing the group as a vibrant and supportive space where everyone feels at home.
Rupi shares her dance journey through the following interview questions.
1) How did your interest in bachata dancing begin?
I always wanted to try bachata but never made time for it.
2) How do you deal with mistakes while learning to dance bachata?
Take the feedback, watch the instructor, and practice the steps.
3) What’s a time you found yourself unexpectedly dancing bachata in a unique or unusual place. Where were you, and how did it go down?
Not unique but have been dancing in front of the mirror in my apartment more!
4) In what ways has dancing bachata improved your life in general?
It's been a great way to get out my comfort zone and make friends in LA!
5) How would you describe the atmosphere and community at Movers and Shakers Dance Academy?
Such a friendly and welcoming community. It's a great group of people!!
