Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight:
Noah Smith
Noah Smith approaches dance with a sense of curiosity and self-discovery, embracing both salsa and bachata as a way to challenge himself and grow. He values the unique ability of dance to create connections, whether with strangers or those who don’t share the same language.
For him, learning these styles has been more than just mastering steps—it’s been about building confidence and expressing himself in a way that society doesn’t always encourage. What began as a new hobby has quickly turned into a lifelong passion, one that he hopes will continue to bring joy, connection, and personal growth for years to come.

1. Did you choose to learn salsa first or bachata first, and why? Was that the right decision for you?
Both! It was the best decision since they complement each other and help build confidence for social dancing.
2. What has been the most rewarding part of learning both salsa and bachata?
As a man, society hasn’t always encouraged self-expression through dance, but that has changed over time. The most rewarding part has been stepping into something that initially felt uncomfortable and growing into it. Learning dance has become one of his favorite hobbies.
3. What do you like most about salsa? What do you like most about bachata?
Dancing is a universal way to connect with people, even strangers or those who don’t speak the same language. It’s beautiful how a few words and a dance can build a connection.
4. How do you see salsa and bachata being part of your life in the future?
Noah hopes to carry this hobby with him for the rest of his life.
5. What would you say to someone in Los Angeles considering taking their first salsa and bachata class at Movers and Shakers?
Movers and Shakers is the best! No other dance lessons compare in technical detail, especially for Leads.
