Student Spotlight:
Domenica Romaniello
Salsa Student
What initially drew Domenica to salsa was the idea of trying something completely new. After reading glowing reviews of Movers and Shakers, she decided it was the perfect environment to push herself and explore a fresh form of expression. Salsa turned out to be more than just a hobby—it became a gateway to growth.
She credits consistent practice as her biggest key to improvement, along with the detailed breakdowns offered in class and in video resources. Social dancing on Fridays also helped her build real-time experience, giving her the chance to apply what she learned in a fun, energetic environment. The combination of structure and spontaneity kept her engaged and progressing steadily.
One of the most surprising parts of salsa for Domenica has been the trust required in partner work. It helped her move past hesitation and become more open to learning from others. Looking back, she’d tell her past self not to fear making mistakes and to just enjoy the ride. As she plans a trip to Puerto Rico this September, she’s excited about the idea of dancing salsa there, deepening her connection to the culture behind the music.
